Michael J. Sabbagh
Michael J. Sabbagh served as the Commissioner of Insurance and as First Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1979 to 1985. Prior to that, as assistant to the Insurance Commissioner, Mr. Sabbagh was the Insurance Division liaison to insurance companies, agents and brokers, trade associations, bureaus and residual market organizations. He worked closely with the officers and governing boards of the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Reinsurance Facility, the FAIR Plan, the Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts and the Market Assistance Program. Mr. Sabbagh served the state Division of Insurance for a total of 36 years. He also served on the Board of Directors of Arbella Mutual Insurance Company at the time of its formation in 1988, and for the succeeding 10-year period.
Mr. Sabbagh serves on the board of the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (Fair Plan) and is currently a member of the Operations Committee and the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Massachusetts Medical Malpractice Reinsurance Plan. He is President of the Lebanese Community Housing for the Elderly and a member of the Greater Lawrence YMCA Finance Committee, and is a board member of the Notre Dame High School in Lawrence, MA.
Mr. Sabbagh has been self-employed since 1985 as a Management Consultant with his main client being CGI in Andover, MA. Mr. Sabbagh has a BS in Business Administration from Suffolk University, a BBA (with honors) and an MPA from Northeastern University.
