Ronald Mariano was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1991, representing parts of Quincy, Weymouth, and Holbrook. In 2001, Representative Mariano was named Chairman of the Joint Committee on Insurance, after serving as Vice-Chairman for four years. Subsequent to a comprehensive committee reorganization in 2005, Representative Mariano became Chairman of the newly created Joint Committee on Financial Services. The Committee on Financial Services has primary jurisdiction for all banking and insurance matters. During his tenure as Chairman, Representative Mariano has led the fight for a competitive automobile insurance market and was also a key architect of the commonwealth’s groundbreaking health care reform law, in 2006.
