Insurance 101 for Innovators

This Class is offered in conjunction with Innovation Underwriters and CIC

Instructor

Paul Tetrault, CPCU

Class Dates

February 25, 2020
3:30 to 5:00 PM

Location
Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), 101 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142

Course Description

Insurance is different
from other business sectors in a lot of ways. It is priced differently,
regulated differently, sold and serviced differently, and it even has its own
accounting and resolution regimes. Anyone seeking to innovate in the
insurance space needs to have a broad and solid, if not necessarily deep,
understanding of the insurance ecosystem and how it is different in order to
avoid wasting time and energy (and funding).
This course will
provide an overview of the insurance world, covering types of companies,
distribution methods, regulation, finances, operations and more.
Attendees will learn fundamental concepts and be exposed to specialized jargon
and terms so they can communicate effectively with members of the incumbent
industry and others in the ecosystem.
