Mission:


The Insurance Library Association of Boston was established in 1887 and is the country’s first, and only remaining, private library dedicated solely to the subject of insurance. The Library maintains a comprehensive collection of print and digital materials, including insurance policies and forms, periodicals, legal treatises, and memorabilia.

The Library’s mission is to provide excellent research resources and services, high-quality educational programming, and opportunities for engagement for members of the insurance, risk management, and legal communities, and the public.


Vision:

The community we serve includes anyone with an interest in insurance information, including students, scholars, lawyers, consumers, and those employed in the insurance business.

In the area of research, our professional staff and unique collection provide insights and information that are largely unavailable to the public from other sources. 

We are both providers and supporters of education, committed to helping members of the insurance and risk management communities and lawyers build their knowledge for the benefit of their careers and those they serve. The Library is engaged in efforts to attract and educate the next generation regarding career opportunities in the fields of insurance and risk management. 

Our unique role as a hub bringing together members of the insurance, risk management, and legal communities gives us the ability to offer unparalleled opportunities for engagement among through in-person events, online networking, and development of content.
