Marc W. Cleary, CPCU, ARM

Marc W. Cleary, started his career as a Commercial Lines Underwriter for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1977 and has held various insurance management, technical and project roles for 36 years. After obtaining his CPCU designation in 1984, he began serving the insurance community, with the Adult Education Center Northeastern University instructing CPCU and AAI classes. In 1985, the Insurance Library Association of Boston/Sanval Insurance Education Center recruited him to conduct classes in both the Boston campus and off-site at member company locations.

Mr. Cleary, a graduate of Stonehill College, has been recognized by the American Institutes/ Society of CPCU as a Distinguished Course Leader in 2011 and awarded with the Jack Dickerson Award for Outstanding Course Leadership in 2006.

He currently concentrates his educational efforts in all of the preparatory courses leading up to the designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. He also specializes in taking groups sequentially through the certification program of the Associate in Risk Management.


Herbert Fuchs

After obtaining his BS Degree from Northeastern University, Herb started his 38 year career with Liberty Mutual holding various positions in the Commercial Underwriting department including Director of Underwriting Training. For the remainder of his career he worked as an Account Executive in Liberty’s Commercial Sales unit selling to Middle Market and then National Market accounts before becoming Commercial Sales Manager. Since retiring from Liberty Herb has been teaching classes and seminars through the Library as well as adult education programs in Newton and Framingham. He has also been pursuing acting and has appeared in local corporate videos and commercials.

Mr. Fuchs leads many of our workers compensation seminars, the Business Interruption seminar, Introduction to Property & Casualty Insurance and the Time Management seminar among others.


David S. Hershey, CPCU, CRM, CRIS, CPSR, ARM, AMIM, MLIS

A risk manager for over 20 years, David’s perspective brings a different dimension to the risk management field. After working for an insurance carrier and public broker for over 10 years, his experiences in the areas of: pollution liability, ocean marine, construction, munitions manufacturing, aviation, transportation and finite risk, provide a multi-faceted risk perspective.

As the Risk Manager for Lexa International, a diverse and privately held $6B global company specializing in: petroleum wholesale, ocean marine terminal management, residential and commercial water treatment, recycled lumber, medical device manufacturing and student housing, he is a frequent speaker for National and Regional RIMS, a past CPCU Chapter President, and the Massachusetts RIMS president and speaker chairman. In addition he is a member and project manager on National RIMS’ Standard & Practices Committee intended to affect positive change on legislation and industry practices impacting the risk management community.

He holds a BS degree from Bentley University, Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, Associates Risk Management, Certified Risk Manager, Associates in Marine Insurance Management, Management Liability Insurance Specialist and is a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist.

Mr. Hershey has led Introduction to Risk Management, Finite Risk, Introduction to the Commercial Umbrella and Fundamentals of Drone Coverage for The Library.


Edward S. Katersky, MBA, CPCU, ARM, CSP

Edward Katersky, CPCU, ARM has over 40 years of experience in the industry.  Ed has served as the Head of Risk Management at CVS Caremark, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Grossman’s, and Cumberland Farms.  He teaches ARM and CPCU courses, as well as seminars on ethics and negotiation skills, and has been named an Outstanding Course Leader by The Institutes.  Ed holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Suffolk University.

Mr. Katersky has taken students through the Associate in Risk Management Program and also leads our Negotiation Skills Seminar.


Michael P. Kelley, AIC, ARM

Michael P. Kelley, AIC, ARM serves as Senior Vice President and Director of Claims Operations at HUB International New England.

Michael has over 33 years of insurance industry experience, beginning his career with the American Mutual Insurance Companies in 1982. He is trained in all lines of claim investigation with a focus on both commercial and personal lines claims. He is an expert in the area of workers’ compensation claim handling and a frequent speaker on the workers’ compensation claim process. He is a former member of the Workers’ Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau (WCRIB) Claim Committee, as well as the Board of Governors of the Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts.

Mr. Kelley trains students for the Associate in Claims Designation as part of that he has also taught some of the Associate in Insurance courses.


Abigail Krueger, CPCU, AIC, ARM

Abby brings over 25 years of insurance and risk experience to her teaching. Her experience has been in a variety of fields including insurance company claims operations, claims advocacy in an agency setting, commercial brokerage, and for the past 15 years, risk and insurance advising. She serves in this position for Licata Risk Advisors.

Abby’s experiences provide her with a wealth of real life examples which she brings to teaching with a goal of helping students understand how interesting, significant, and fun insurance policies can be.
In addition to serving students of The Insurance Library of Boston, Abby has served as Adjunct Faculty in Northeastern University’s Insurance program and has served as an author of publications on affordable housing risk management.

Abby is a graduate of the University of Chicago, with a degree in Behavioral Science. She instructs in the CPCU Curriculum, provides special seminars such as CGL Under the Magnifying Glass, and regularly leads the Producer Property and Casualty licensing curriculum.


Kym Martell, CRM, CIC, CRIS, AAI, MLIS

Kym has designed, developed and delivered continuing education and professional training programs on a national level for a variety of clients, including professional organizations, insurance companies and agencies and insurance brokerage firms. She also has served as a state faculty member of the Big I New Jersey and is an approved instructor for the Big I New York. Additionally, Kym is a national faculty member of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, for their E&O Risk Management Programs.


Mark Plesha, CPCU

Mr. Plesha has been teaching a variety of Insurance Institute of American and CPCU courses since 1984 and was named as an “Outstanding Course Leader” by The Institutes. Mr. Plesha taught CPCU 520 and hosted or participated in several webinars on a variety of topics to Insurance Regulatory Examiners (IRES) members.  He serves on the IRES Board of Directors, the Education Committee and the Accreditation & Ethics Committee. Previously, Mr. Plesha worked for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where for over 20 years he functioned as the coordinator of over 200 state market conduct examinations and audits. Mr. Plesha served president of the Boston Chapter of the CPCU Society from 2000 to 2001. 


Ray Roach, CPCU, ARM, ERM, ARP, ASLI

Ray Roach is Area Senior Vice President of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Throughout his career Mr. Roach has worked in loss control, underwriting, marketing, product development, captives and alternative risk products. He brings this diversified experience to WGA’s clients in his present role of Account Executive.

Because of his varied background, Mr. Roach provides his clients with a comprehensive analysis of their exposures and management controls to design the appropriate insurance coverage’s for their operations. He incorporates his Risk Management experience into his evaluation and analysis to provide a cost efficient and comprehensive program to control/eliminate potential exposures. Mr. Roach has worked in many industries including high technology, biotechnology, manufacturing, environmental services, real estate, energy, healthcare, and financial institutions.

Prior to joining WGA, Mr. Roach was the Underwriting Manager for Liberty Mutual’s Special Products Group managing environmental, auto, high hazard casualty, employment practices, excess worker’s compensation, and umbrella for Liberty’s National Market Account unit. His responsibilities included product development, marketing, operations and underwriting of all specialty products for all National Market clients. Prior to Liberty Mutual, Mr. Roach spent eleven years at AIG managing their Boston office Commerce and Industry Division.

Mr. Roach is a graduate of Boston University with an MBA from Northeastern University. He holds the designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Environmental Risk Management (ERM), Associate in Research and Planning (ARP) and Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI). Mr. Roach is also a frequent speaker at industry forums and has been an instructor at the Insurance Library in Boston for the past 17 years.


Phil Sibilia

Phil Sibilia has over 40 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He began his career at Commercial Union Insurance, and over the years has held various positions in both property and liability claims. Most recently, he was SVP, Head of Claims at OneBeacon. Currently, Phil is the owner of MBRD Consulting where he has been engaged by clients for due diligence exercises, training and education, quality control, operational reviews and expert witness testimony.


Robert Titus, AIC, CRIS

Robert Titus is a licensed Massachusetts insurance broker who is broadly experienced in multi-line claim evaluation, commercial property claims advocacy, insurance litigation support, complex policy analysis, reserve auditing, TPA selection, drafting claims-handling protocols, and providing comprehensive risk management services to self-insured programs.

Mr. Titus currently maintains an active consulting practice that includes claims advocacy for clients on large and complex multi-line commercial claims and OCIP/Builders Risk construction losses. In addition, Bob has developed and taught insurance related professional development courses to insurance professionals for over fifteen years, and is presently on the teaching faculty of the Insurance Library of Boston, Polestar Performance Programs, Inc. and The Academy of Insurance.


Catherine Trischan CPCU, CIC, CRM, AU, AAI, CRIS, ARM, MLIS, TRIP

Cathy Trischan has been with the E&K Agency in Eatontown, N.J. since 1996, and currently serves as director of commercial underwriting. She began her insurance career after graduating from Rutgers University in 1987. She has worked as a claims adjuster for a major property/casualty carrier and in the commercial departments of several large New Jersey agencies. In addition to her work with E&K, Trischan provides education and consulting services to other agents, brokers and insurance companies. She is a National Faculty member of The National Alliance, speaking in both the Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Insurance Service Representatives programs. She has taught both prelicensing and continuing-education courses for PIA, Brookdale Community College and other institutions. She received an Award for Academic Excellence from the Insurance Institute of America and is a participant in the CPCU Society’s Continuing Professional Development program


Holly Woods

Holly Woods has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, beginning her career handling liability claims for insurance carriers. In 2013, she moved to the broker side of the business, and is currently Area Vice President at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Holly is a graduate of Fitchburg State College and holds an MBA from Nichols College. William C. Wilson, Jr., CPCU, ARM, AIM, AAM

William C. Wilson, Jr., CPCU, ARM, AIM, AAM is the founder of InsuranceCommentary.com. He retired from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America in December 2016 where he served as Assoc. VP of Education and Research and was the founder and director of the Big “I” Virtual University for over 17 years.  He is the former Director of Education & Technical Affairs for the Insurors of Tennessee and, prior to that time, he was employed by Insurance Services Office, Inc.  He is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology with a B.S. degree in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering.
