2025 Award Recipient
John Malley
Commercial Lines Manager at Bender Hatch Insurance

The Nancy Z. Bender Award was established in 2020 to honor an individual who demonstrates outstanding customer or community service as exemplified by Nancy Bender, an insurance trailblazer and business leader, former longtime Library trustee and past president, and the Library’s 2019 Insurance Professional of the Year. We are pleased to announce that this year’s recipient is John Malley, Commercial Lines Manager at Bender Hatch Insurance.
John started his insurance career at Brewer & Lord (now part of HUB International) and has been with Bender Hatch Insurance for more than three decades, starting his time there at H. R. Hatch Insurance. He is now in his second term on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents.
Outside of his work in insurance, John has been an active and involved member of his community for many years. He is a founding member and past president of the Roslindale Business Group, a local business networking and community outreach organization. Most notably, John has held numerous positions in government in the town of Stoughton, where he currently is a commissioner on the Stoughton Conservation Commission. In the past, John has served as a Town Meeting member, member of the Stoughton Finance Committee, and member of the boards of the Stoughton Media Access Corporation and the Stoughton Council on Aging.
The dedication, leadership, and commitment to service he brings to his work, and his exemplary service to his community for many years, make John an outstanding and worthy recipient of this award. All of us at the Library offer John our warmest congratulations.
The award will be presented at a private event later this summer.
